Professional Photography Pricing Guide
The fees charged by professional photographers can range from very low to take-your-breath-away high. Naturally, the very best photographers are in very high demand: They charge what the market will bear, which in their case can be many thousands of dollars for a half-day shoot.
Most photographers base their rates on the type of job, how the photographic images will be used, and how much time the job will take. They may charge extra for travel fees or the set-up and use of special equipment, or for physically difficult or dangerous jobs. Most photographers will quote you a fixed fee, based on your description of the work needed.
Wedding photographers make an average of about $2,000 for a wedding — which may seem high, until you consider that the fee includes not only the time the photographer actually spends at the wedding, but meeting and preparation time, film processing, photo printing, and the cost of his overhead.
